Weld County licensing questions
- Who licenses a temporary kitchen near Milliken?
- Weld County Health and Environment's food safety page lists licensing and inspection for mobile food units and temporary event vendors. Its temporary events page says requirements vary by event and vendor type, so call (970) 400-2210 or write HE-tempevents@weldgov.com and confirm what applies.
- Does a school site change the answer?
- Ask. The county page does not address schools, so describe the campus, meals a day and dates, then confirm any fire or inspection steps with the district.

What the district's project page means for meals
Milliken Intermediate Conversion ↗
Johnstown-Milliken School District RE-5J
The district's project page says the former Milliken Middle School reopened for 2025-26 as Milliken Intermediate, for grades 3-5. It lists new food-service items, including an on-site freezer and fridge, dry storage and a steamer table, and says enhancements are still in progress.
For a kitchen rental: If a school kitchen is down during later enhancements, ask early whether a temporary kitchen could cover lunches.
The page lists food-service work at the converted campus: an on-site freezer and fridge, dry storage and a new steamer table. It also says Milliken Elementary expanded preK from two to five classrooms, which adds meal demand across the town's schools.
If equipment work, a power issue or a later upgrade interrupts cooking, a temporary kitchen is one way to keep service going.
The district page also describes the elementary renovation as completed, with a redesigned secure vestibule and upgraded HVAC. A kitchen trailer should stay clear of those entrances, so ask the school which lot and which door staff would use for meal carts.
Snow and wind on the northeast plains
The National Weather Service Boulder office says the March 2021 blizzard left 21.0 inches at nearby Johnstown and 25.0 at Firestone, closed most major interstates and brought scattered outages. For a Milliken site, that means a plowed pad, a firm approach and a plan for fuel and power if roads close.
Send the campus address, meals a day, the first and last service dates and the power and water at the lot. The rental team then confirms size, availability, routing and site access, and the county's food safety staff confirm which license or inspection applies before the first meal.
